It was once believed that garden sheds would be difficult products to sell online but retailers such as Garden Buildings Direct (GBD) have proved that there is a thriving market for these structures on the internet.
In fact the garden buildings sector has become a crowded e-commerce segment with several retailers competing with one another to sell sheds online in the UK.
With such a competitive market it's essential for retailers such as GBD to invest in digital PR and SEO to ensure they rank in organic search.
We've been working with this client for several years and have built thousands of high authority links into the site using digital PR strategies.
This is a review of our results during one 12 month period spanning the whole of 2022.
During the year we devised and delivered 47 different campaigns for the client, securing 1586 items of media coverage and 1865 links into GBD's website from media sites with high authority domains.
That means we won 155 links for every month we spent working on the account during 2022.
Our coverage and links came from high authority sites such as Metro, The Guardian, The Sun, Hello Magazine, Ideal Home and House Beautiful.
How we did it
On the face of things sheds aren't that exciting. Even when customised into man caves and she sheds, there's a limit to how sexy any shed can be.
So our main strategy with this client has been to focus on their expertise in the garden by working up a series of content pieces showcasing their knowledge of all things gardening from how to avoid hey fever, to decking mistakes and how to keep spiders from invading your shed (and home).
Where possible we linked to deep pages within the site such as blog posts which gave media a reason to link. This strategy helped us secure some valuable links such as this local authority link.
By focusing on their expertise we have raised their stock in the media and built thousands of links into the site.
