Financial comparison websites are big e-commerce businesses these days and the market is very competitive with all of the big sites investing heavily in their marketing. Digital PR is an important part of their marketing efforts with the quest to win high authority backlinks ongoing across all the platforms.
Motive was engaged by Money to develop a series of financial PR content to promote their personal finance and energy pages. We developed an e-commerce PR campaign featuring a range of ideas, creating content and media releases which were then outreached to win backlinks into money's website.
Among the many ideas which delivered coverage was the Eco Pets League - a study into the carbon footprints of popular pets which revealed the tortoise was the best companion animal for the eco conscious. This brought in a spread of coverage with 20 links including a follow link from National Geographic which proved to be the highest DR link we won across the campaign with a score of 91.
We also spoke to academics and looked at the measures households can take to transform drafty houses into eco homes and reduce their energy bills - picking up coverage and links from the likes of Ideal Home and House Beautiful. Sticking with the eco theme we landed on Mail Online with a story about reducing your plastic waste while our eco camping tips were featured on The Mirror.
We also used our journalistic skills to come up with a range of stories around energy consumption including energy draining gadgets, the meter numbers you must know, and checks to make before leaving your home.
In total we totted up 139 items of media coverage and 126 links for the financial comparison site. The average Domain Rating of the referring domains was 59.
